Rev. Keith M. Miller, Music Minister
A native Marylander, Keith brings 30+ years of experience to ministry having served in both large and small churches as a Music Director, Music and Youth Director, and as Minister of Music in Maryland and Oklahoma. He was educated at Oklahoma Baptist University, Peabody Conservatory, St. Mary’s Seminary, and Central Michigan University. He was ordained in May 1986 by the First Baptist Church of Silver Spring, Md., where he served for 15 years. Keith is a certified handbell clinician by the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers. He has directed large and small choirs and orchestras of all ages and for many years was the director of music camps for the Baptist Convention of Maryland and Delaware.
His call to ministry had its genesis in a small Methodist church in McLoud, Okla., where he served a music internship while in college. Music has always been a strong part of his life, having grown up in a musical family.
Keith is married to Bobbi, and they have four grown sons – two live in Maryland, one in New York City, and one in Ft. Collins, Colo. They are the proud grandparents of two preschool granddaughters.
Keith arrived on staff at First Church in September 2001. His goal is to grow a viable and growing music ministry that makes disciples of all ages, focusing on the process more than the product. He loves to teach voice, guitar, piano and music theory and is passionate about worship – the most important thing a church can do! Keith is an avid music listener of all types, fond of reading devotional material (especially the Psalms!), and finds therapy in working in his yard (when it is not too hot!).
